We recently helped a customer in Weybridge who needed a couple of extra sockets in their kitchen area. There were no sockets above a small section of worktop, which made it awkward to use things like the kettle or toaster and was unpractical.
We attended to take a look and quoted to install 2 new double socket outlets above the works top and also upgrade the existing RCD from an old Type AC unit to a new Type A, to bring everything up to current standards.
As always, we started by fully testing the circuit to make sure it was safe to work on. Once everything checked out, we pushed on with the installation. The wall was stud with tiles over the top, so we used our multitool with a diamond blade to carefully cut out for the socket boxes right through the tiles, no cracks, no damage.
We picked up the supply from the utility room on the other side of the wall, routing the new cabling neatly through the wall cavity. Once the cables were in, we fitted the new back boxes and sockets. We then swapped out the RCD for a newer Type A unit. Final step was testing the full installation and issuing the right certification.
