Why a local electrician matters in Walton-on-Thames
Walton and the towns around it are a real mix, and the wiring underneath them is too. You've got the older period and 1930s commuter-belt homes where I still come across rubber and cloth-insulated cable, wooden-backed fuseboards and lighting circuits with no earth — all fine in their day, but well past it now. After years working on these houses you get a feel for what's behind the wall before you start cutting into it.
Then there's the bigger detached market out towards Weybridge, Oxshott and Cobham — refurbs and extensions where people want it doing properly: feature and garden lighting, media walls, kitchen and extension power, three-phase boards. That's a different job again, and it's work I genuinely enjoy getting right.
Plenty of the patch sits close to the Thames, too — Walton, Shepperton, Thames Ditton, Hampton Court. Damp and the odd bit of flooding mean outdoor sockets, garden supplies and anything in a garage or outbuilding need specifying with proper IP ratings and RCD protection, not just whatever's cheapest off the van. And with the rental market round here being what it is, EICRs and landlord work are bread and butter — letting agents and landlords know they'll get the report and the certificate without chasing.
That's the advantage of a local sparky who actually knows the area: I'm not driving in from the other side of the county, I know the housing stock, and I'm close enough to get back if you need me.

Do you charge for quotes?
No. Quotes are free and there's no obligation. I'll give you a clear written quote before any work starts, so you know exactly what's included and what it costs — no verbal guesses and no surprises on the invoice.
Are you a registered electrician?
Yes. I'm a NICEIC Approved Contractor, Part P registered, ECS card holding and City & Guilds qualified, and Precision Electrical is a Which? Trusted Trader. Every job is certified and notified where it needs to be.
What is an EICR and do I need one?
An EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) is a full inspection of the fixed wiring in a property. Landlords in England legally need a valid EICR at least every five years, and they're well worth doing when buying, selling or renovating a home so you know the condition of what you're working with.
Do you cover commercial work as well as domestic?
Yes. Alongside homeowner work I look after offices, shops, gyms and small commercial units — lighting, power, maintenance, EICRs and fit-outs. My NICEIC Approved Contractor registration is the level that covers commercial installation work.
What areas do you cover?

Yes. Work is carried out to BS 7671 and you get the proper certification and Building Control notification where it's required, not just a verbal all-clear. If something needs a second look after I've finished, I come back and put it right.
